Choosing Antoine-Labelle is choosing the Other Laurentians. A territory full of opportunities, where everything remains to be built.

Where everything is raw, whole and happily wild.

Choose from 17 intimate paradises. So many village cores with their own personalities and colours.

The word traffic is not part of our vocabulary, except when we go to the city. In fact, we only see it three times per year:

  1. At the beginning of the fishing season
  2. At the end of the fishing season
  3. When vacations start

If you spend more than 20 minutes in your car, it’s probably because you live in a municipality close to your place of work and you drive fast to get there.

For lodging

Choosing the Other Laurentians also means having the opportunity to choose between urban and rural living. The two central cities (Mont-Laurier and Rivière-Rouge) offer the possibility of an urban lifestyle with local shops, restaurants and many services. Rural life, on the other hand, is not far away with its forest areas, village centers, or agricultural landscapes.

It is still possible to find a more affordable home than in the city, close to water, as our territory includes more than 4500 lakes and rivers.

The territory is so vast that you could find your own private paradise by clearing a piece of land.

If you dream of peace and quiet as well as modern, this is your best bet!

For education and learning

The school offering is quite desirable despite the region being remote. Residents have access to services ranging from kindergarten to university studies, since the territory includes a vocational school, a CEGEP and a university.  Most municipalities have one or more elementary schools.

For entertainment, fun and development

If you enjoy sports, various leisure activities and culture, you will find what you need in the Other Laurentians.

The Espace Théâtre offers, in its state-of-the-art performance hall, a wonderful program including comedy, music, theatre and much more. In addition, you can participate in the cultural development of the region by joining the Mont-Laurier improvisation league or the Chœur Entramis choir. You can also develop your talents by enrolling in one of the dance schools or joining one of the amateur theatre groups.

No matter the season, there are many outdoor events all year-round, such as the Famili-Fest in Mont-St-Michel, the Festival santé in Ferme-Neuve or the Gros Gras in Chute-Saint-Philippe. Being outdoors as a group is part of our DNA.

The offer of local restaurateurs, producers and processors has also been booming in recent years. When you can enjoy maple syrup, vegetables or eggs produced within 10 km of your home, it doesn’t get any more local than that.

Practice your favourite hobby 15 minutes after finishing work is also possible. The proximity of water places, nature and sports infrastructures allows you to practice canoeing, fishing, cycling, cross-country skiing, tennis and much more without having to prepare several hours in advance.

And if no organization offers your favourite pastime, you have the freedom to start your own project. There is plenty of room for new initiatives!

To do business

Located in the heart of the Outaouais, the metropolitan region and Abitibi-Témiscamingue, it is also an excellent place to pursue new business ventures. Moreover, the Maison de l’Entrepreneur, which brings together all the economic development organizations in the region, will be able to assist you with your business projects. Whether you want to start a business, work on your own or take over a business that is already well established, the Maison de l’Entrepreneur will be able to help you.

To live fully each season

Life in the Other Laurentians includes certain seasonal traditions, such as when the snow melts and the family gathers at the sugar shack or when several colleagues are away from the office in October for moose hunting.

In short, the Other Laurentians is a very young region offering development opportunities. We have plenty of space to welcome you. It doesn’t matter if you are on your own or accompanied, there are plenty opportunities. A wonderful life awaits you in your new "home"!
